What does it cost to save a boy's life, and where does the money actually go? And what happens after rehab? Below is a straightforward breakdown.

Everything listed here is for direct, essential costs only. Donations do not pay for my time, food, travel, or overhead like the website.

What happens after the 12 months in rehab?

If a boy returns to the same environment without opportunity, relapse risk goes way up. Aftercare costs are an investment that reduces relapse and improves long-term outcomes.

The exact path each boy takes is not one-size-fits-all. It depends on several factors:

  • Grades and school transcript: whether they can re-enter school right away or need tutoring/vocational training.

  • School and work ambitions: some want to finish school; others prefer learning a trade and starting work.

  • How much funding we’ve raised for that child: if we have more resources, we can support higher-quality schooling, longer-term housing, or better job training.

Here’s what these costs look like in Honduras

  • School enrollment, uniforms, supplies: $600/year

  • Vocational training or skills development: $800/year

  • Job placement support or seed funds: $300 one-time

  • Safe housing support if home isn’t an option: $150/month

We decide on the best aftercare plan individually, with the goal of giving each boy the safest and most stable future possible, within the resources we have.
